Buchanan, Grand Bassa County – The Christian Association of the Blind (CAB) has issued an urgent appeal for assistance to renovate its seven-room building, which has become increasingly unsafe for its residents. County coordinator Robert Kpado made the call for help recently, highlighting the urgent need for intervention to prevent the structure from collapsing.
The building serves as a crucial sanctuary for visually impaired individuals, currently accommodating over fourteen residents. However, its deteriorating condition poses a significant risk to their safety and well-being. "The safety and comfort of our members are paramount, and right now, this building is no longer conducive to their well-being," Mr. Kpado stated.
Kpado provided background on the facility, explaining that the zinc-roofed structure was originally built in 2011 as a warehouse during the initial construction of their home. As the population of visually impaired individuals in the area increased, he and others were forced to move in, repurposing the warehouse into a living space.
With the rainy season fast approaching, Kpado expressed urgent concern that without prompt renovations, the residents could face homelessness due to the building's imminent collapse.
He is appealing to humanitarian organizations, NGOs, government agencies, and the public to provide support in addressing this critical situation. The CAB remains hopeful that, with the community’s assistance, they can restore a safe and secure environment for those who rely on this facility.
